about me
I’m Kevin Knight, a designer of illustrated books with over 25 years of experience based in Brighton, UK.
I mainly design illustrated childrens’ books but also illustrated adult reference books. Over the years I’ve developed a skill, working from the author’s manuscript, to create a visual plan for the book spreads that is used by the illustrator/editor as an accurate plan to follow.
I also occasionally illustrate book covers using Photoshop and Illustrator.
what I’ve done
I’ve been designing illustrated books since 1995 when I joined Bridgewater Books (which became Ivy Press) as a senior designer.
Since going freelance in 2000 I have also been employed both as a book designer and art director. In 2006 I began designing childrens’ books and in 2011 I was art director for the newly established Ivy Kids imprint at Ivy Press.
